On Wednesday, President Trump took time out of his day running the country to tweet about how upset he was that Nordstrom dropped products from Ivanka's brand. He even retweeted it from the @POTUS account, meaning a taxpayer-funded account attacked a company and promoted his family's business.
But Nordstrom was just one of a growing number of stores that are distancing themselves from Ivanka's apparel and accessories lines because of declining sales, possibly due to the #GrabYourWallet campaign to boycott businesses that support the Trump family's bottom line.
President Trump's tweet wasn't the last of the White House's responses, either. On Thursday morning, Trump's counselor Kellyanne Conway went on Fox & Friends from the White House press briefing room to address the news. First, she touted Ivanka's "entrepreneurial, wildly successful business," and then she turned it into an advertisement for the first daughter's brand.
"Go buy Ivanka's stuff, is what I would tell you. I hate shopping but I'm going to go get some myself today," she said. "It's a wonderful line. I own some of it. I'm going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody. You can find it online."
