"Last Year I got stuck in New York because of the volcano eruption in Iceland. I couldn't fly back to France, so I went to California. It inspired me. I've got this very sporty spirit, and I was thinking I'd show more of it in the spring collection. When times are hard, you don't want complicated things; you want something playful. Summer is a good season to express that."

"I got into fashion by accident. My biggest concern was dressing myself. The first piece of clothing I made was a dress from my father's nightshirt. It was printed with paisley. I loved the colors. And I loved taking his ties and making belts out of them. My mother, on the other hand, was very womanly, and I was totally against the womanly look until I was in my 20s."

"I try on everything before it goes down the runway. One of the most important things I've learned is that you cannot make people wear anything that you wouldn't wear yourself. The basis of my design comes from that. It's a rule."
