Before influencers were influencers, cool girls with great taste and style just existed. Olivia Palermo was one of those cool girls. She's also one of those cool girls that has since traversed the crowded seas of influencer-dom to remain relevant, today announcing the launch of Olivia Palermo Beauty. This comes almost 15 years after Palermo made her TV debut as the ambitious socialite rival to Lauren Conrad on the New York City spin-off of The Hills, The City.
"I’ve always thought of beauty as a glam punctuation," she writes in the announcement on her website, where the range will be sold starting today, May 6.
The Olivia Palermo Beauty wardrobe will consist of four pieces at the beginning, including a serum, a mattifying mist, two eyeshadow palettes, and three matte lipsticks. "The packaging mimics my vintage gold bracelet, a treasured piece from my collection that I cannot live without," she says. "That’s how I view Olivia Palermo Beauty. Pieces that are meant to be celebrated and treasured, like heirlooms, but used everyday." Palermo also says she's a longtime proponent of skin health, which is why she's chosen to include complexion products alongside color cosmetics.
Another salient point? Olivia Palermo Beauty is cruelty-free and vegan, and excludes more than 1,300 banned ingredients like parabens, sulfates, phthalates, mineral oil, and talc, in compliance with European Union regulations.
The serum, for instance, contains hyaluronic acid, peptides, plus microfine light-reflecting pigments for enhanced luminosity. The lipsticks are formulated with kaolin and plant-derived carnauba wax, and come in three OP-approved shades: Santa Fe, Rosebud, and Chianti, all neutrals ranging from peach to burgundy.
Palermo says the range, which was created in partnership with Paris-based Marie Claire Beauty Group, has been two years in the making. Learn more about Olivia Palermo Beauty on Instagram at @OliviaPalermoBeauty.
