Thanks to her ongoing court case against Dr. Luke, Kesha has been largely unable to put out new music. Long story short, she wants to avoid working with the man she claims assaulted her, but her contracts are pretty restricting. It's an understandably frustrating situation, but Kesha hopes the new year will bring a fresh start—and that she'll be able to release an album on her own terms.

"Just got back a mix of me and someone singing a duet, crying happy tears, never in my life imagined this dream could ever actually come true," Kesha writes in the below Instagram post. "I just want to make art. And let you hear it. That's all I want for Christmas. And my New Years resolution is to finish my record and give it to you."

🙏 that 2017 will be a better year for Kesha and the rest of the world (because no offense, 2016, you were rough).
