When you're used to attending holiday parties from 6 P.M. on, it's easy to be thrown for a loop when an invitation suggests you show up at, say, noon. Not sure what to wear? L.A. based blogger Jenny Tsang of Tsangtastic has daytime party-dressing down pat. Below, her five go-to looks that you can rely on, should a pre-dusk invite hit your inbox.

1 Shades of Blue

A visual lesson on making monochrome infinitely more interesting: mix textures and silhouettes. Layer a silk camisole underneath a sheer knit, and over an asymmetrical skirt, and don't forget to add a touch of glitz with accessories. "Sterling silver is the perfect complement to blue," says Tsang.

2 Casual Glam

Holiday girls' brunch on the calendar? Play into the whole I-woke-up-like-this vibe with the fashion alternative: a bedroom-inspired slinky satin top. Pair it with a fuzzy oversized duster coat, a thin silver moon-charm necklace and matching bracelet, and cropped skinny pants for an effortlessly chic holiday look.

3 Layered Luxe

If you're into transitional dressing, go for an outfit that's a bit more dramatic, like this black-and olive-layered look. "The exaggerated sleeves on the sweater elevate the entire look," says Tsang. "The velvet skirt and layered [14k] gold necklaces make it even more glamorous, and the long green vest and patent leather booties gives it an edgy feel."

4 White Hot

Pro tip: Step out in a coat so absurdly chic you'd never bother taking it off to show what's underneath, and definitely banish any "No white after Labor Day" limitations from your mind. "An all-white look feels fresh," says Tsang. "Wear accessories with vibrant colors to contrast the white."

5 Skin Is In

"Black and red is the ultimate holiday color combination," says Tsang. She paired an off-the-shoulder knit with a silky, thigh-baring midi skirt and daytime-friendly booties. "Skip the necklace to keep the décolletage bare—accessorize with bangles layered over the sleeves," she adds. Complete cool.
