There's been a lot of talk about the Affordable Care Act (or "Obamacare," to which it's been more commonly referred), and for good reason — it's a dramatic restructuring of our healthcare system to make most services vastly more affordable. One such method: birth control. Under the ACA, the full range of FDA-approved prescription birth control methods (the pill, the shot, the ring, IUDs, etc.) must be covered by every insurance plan, and without a co-pay. However, some plans may still require a co-pay for certain brands, so be sure to check with your insurance company.

to get a read on the different options. If you're covered under the ACA, you have nothing to lose! Open enrollment started on Oct. 1, and if you sign up before Dec. 15, 2013, your new plan will go into effect by Jan. 1. Here's to a happy and healthy New Year!
