Travel Tip: Press Your Clothes with a Flatiron

Gisel Florez

If you need another excuse to pack your flatiron while traveling, consider this: when you're in a pinch, the hot plates double as a clothing iron. Just make sure the plates are clean — product residue will leave nasty stains on your shirts — or give the iron a quick wipe-down with a damp towel for extra insurance (and a little steam action). It's best to use models with adjustable temperature settings that you can use on everything from silk (very, very low setting) to sweaters (high setting).
