I Found the Shorts Trend That Actually Feels Elegant

I keep coming back to Bermuda shorts because they’re easy, chic, and never feel too trendy

If there’s one piece I find myself returning to every summer, it’s Bermuda shorts. Trends come and go, but this tailored staple has remained a constant in my wardrobe. I love the way Bermudas combine comfort and sophistication, offering a polished alternative to traditional shorts without sacrificing ease. And if I’m being honest, the length is a big part of the appeal. Short shorts have never really been my thing; I much prefer the longer, more elegant silhouette of Bermudas. They feel chic, modern, and effortless.

Versatile and endlessly wearable, Bermuda shorts can be styled in so many ways, from sharp tailoring to casual denim and utility-inspired cargo versions. But what makes them a true summer essential is their ability to look both relaxed and refined. Whether worn as part of a matching suit, styled with a simple tank, or dressed down with flat sandals, they adapt seamlessly to different occasions, moods, and personal styles.

Perhaps that’s why I find myself reaching for them year after year. They’re polished without feeling restrictive, modern without chasing trends, and comfortable without compromising on style. In a fashion landscape that’s constantly changing, Bermuda shorts remain one of those rare wardrobe staples that reinvent themselves without losing their appeal. This summer, their return feels less like a comeback and more like a reminder that great style is often built on pieces that stand the test of time.

    Bermuda Suit

One of my favorite ways to wear Bermuda shorts is as part of a matching suit. There’s something incredibly chic about combining the relaxed feel of shorts with the polish of tailoring. It’s a look that feels modern, confident and effortlessly put together while remaining comfortable enough for everyday wear.

A Bermuda suit can take you from a day in the city to a lunch meeting or evening drinks with very little effort. Styled with heels, it feels sophisticated and elegant; paired with flats, it takes on a more relaxed attitude. It offers all the refinement of traditional tailoring, but with a fresh, contemporary twist that feels perfect for warmer weather. For me, it’s one of the most stylish ways to wear Bermuda shorts and proof that tailoring doesn’t always have to mean trousers.

    Denim Bermuda Shorts

For a more casual take on the trend, I always reach for denim Bermuda shorts. They are one of the easiest pieces to wear during the warmer months, offering all the comfort of your favorite jeans in a silhouette that feels fresher and more summer-appropriate. I love how effortlessly they work with everything in my wardrobe—from an oversized shirt and sandals to a statement blouse and a pair of heels.

Part of the appeal of denim Bermudas lies in their laid-back nature. They can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion, making them a reliable option for everything from city strolls to weekend lunches. Relaxed yet polished, they strike the perfect balance between practicality and style. If the Bermuda suit is my answer to elevated summer dressing, denim Bermuda shorts are my go-to for those days when I want to look chic without overthinking it.

    Cargo Bermuda Shorts

Cargo Bermuda shorts offer a fresh and modern take on the trend. They strike the perfect balance between practicality and style, bringing a relaxed confidence to summer dressing. I love how the cargo pockets add interest and dimension, making a simple outfit feel more fashion-forward.

What makes cargo Bermudas so appealing is their contemporary feel. They bring a relaxed, effortless energy to summer dressing while still looking polished and intentional. I often style them with elevated basics, tailored outerwear or heeled sandals to create contrast between their practical roots and a more refined aesthetic. They are comfortable, functional, and fashion-forward all at once–a combination that feels particularly relevant right now.

If there’s one style that truly highlights the enduring appeal of Bermuda shorts, it’s tailored Bermudas. Sitting somewhere between classic shorts and elegant trousers, they bring a polished sophistication to summer dressing while remaining comfortable and easy to wear. I love how they can instantly elevate an outfit, whether paired with a crisp shirt, a sleeveless blouse, or a simple white tee.

What makes tailored Bermudas so special is their polished simplicity. They feel smart enough for the office, elegant enough for lunch meetings, and effortless enough for weekends. Their clean lines and structured silhouette create a look that feels both modern and timeless. For me, tailored Bermuda shorts perfectly capture what makes this trend so enduring—they are practical, chic and endlessly wearable.
