My Toddler Is the Best-Dressed Person I Know
Crystal Anderson shares the adult fashion finds inspired by her toddler's impossibly chic wardrobe.
Before November 2023, I was arguably the most stylish person in my house, but once my kid Jack was born, I had to quickly (and happily!) pass over the reins. See, I always thought kids’ clothes were all things fire trucks and primary colors. A style void, if you will. But baby, it was a wrong! I found all these emerging kids' brands making stuff I 1000 percent needed to own in my size. So, I started using Jack’s closet as an IRL Pinterest Board! Any time I would post a picture of Jack’s ‘fit, the adults would clamor, asking if they made them in our size. The answer is often no—but not for lack of begging these brands for a big-kid (aka my size) version for the masses! But I’ve done a bit of research, and we can all now live out our sartorial toddler dreams! Take a walk with me while I show you the adult dupes for bite-size couture!
First up is this objectively perfect outfit! The sweater was a hand-me-down with no tag and the pants are from one of my fave kids brands, Mmoodykids, who makes upcycled pants and a pair of Mary Janes from Vans. To adult-ify Jack’s look, here’s what you’ll need.
Thankfully Martine Rose makes adult sizes because this one is EASY to pull off! Minimum effort, maximum toddler realness
The simplest but most adorable outfit that made me want to bite Jack’s cheeks for two hours straight! Also another that was way too easy to recreate!
And there you have it! Go forth and use your favorite kid’s wardrobe as your next outfit inspo or, at the very least, use some of that childlike whimsy in your next outfit!!
