The 2020 presidential election is less than 100 days away. The filmmaker has expressed her vehement support for the Democratic ticket, posting a plea to her social media followers just after Harris's appointment as Biden's running mate: "Vote them in and then let’s hold them accountable. Kaling was a supporter of Harris' when she was running her own presidential campaign in the primaries. So needless to say, the Netflix showrunner was on board when Biden announced Harris as his running mate. Kaling took to Instagram to express what it meant to see a woman of color on a presidential ticket. "Was there ever more of an exciting day? For our entire country of course, but especially for my Black and Indian sisters, many of us who have gone our entire lives thinking that someone who looks like us may never hold high office. We work so hard and contribute to the fabric of America, and now to see someone as talented as @kamalaharris rise to the top like this? It’s thrilling!! I am filled with hope and excitement. Thank you @joebiden. Let’s do this!," she wrote.
The actor was spotted at a fundraiser for Biden before pandemic lockdowns began.
The powerhouse couple both took to Instagram to share their support for the Democratic nominees. "What a historic moment for women of color, little girls with big dreams, and mothers everywhere. We are cheering for you," Biel posted on social media after news broke that Harris was Biden's VP pick.
