Last week, we sung the praises of Texas state sen. Wendy Davis (D), who led an epic, 11-hour filibuster to kill a now infamous anti-abortion bill. Davis' historical court appearance was too good to be true, however, as Gov. Rick Perry called the Texas legislature on Thursday to reconvene today at 3 p.m. EST. "We will not allow the breakdown of decorum and decency to prevent us from doing what the people of this state hired us to do," said Perry, on the bill that, if passed, would be among the strictest abortion rulings in the country.
But with a second session comes a second round of vocal protestors who will surely rally this afternoon at the Texas Capitol. We'll have more updates for you as this afternoon's second session gets underway!
