Here's your ridiculous Fox News shocker of the morning: Women should pay more for health insurance because we have boobs, ovaries, and the uterus. Men just have the prostate. Makes complete and total sense, right?
The expert is Dr. David Samadi, who appeared on an Aug. 27 segment of Fox & Friends to discuss President Obama's health insurance rates. The statement, he swears was neither sexist nor biased. "Look, it's not bias, I'm not saying this as a man," Samadi said. "[Women] go through a lot of preventive screenings, they give birth, they have the whole mammogram, the Pap smear. Guys, we don't like to go to doctors, right?"
Co-host Gretchen Carlson added her own two cents, saying that women are often blamed for maternity costs, "but men and women have babies together." Samadi responded, stating, "I agree with you that it's a shared responsibility, but just the way the system is."
Listen, Dr. Samadi, this isn't a kindergarten counting lesson — body parts don't operate under the "three is greater than one" rule here. We're not really sure what to tell the people at Fox News, besides that fact that we, unfortunately, aren't at all surprised that this type of ignorant behavior would be broadcast on national television. The fight for women's health and empowerment doesn't start in Congress, and it definitely doesn't start in the Whole House — instead, it starts with men like Samadi, who refuse to view women as equal partners, yet alone equal, insurance-deserving citizens.
