How-To Beauty: Hollywood Looks, part 3 Video
Easy-to-use, keep-forever makeup tips from celebrity makeup artist Justin Henry
Alexis, I've covered your face with a couple of dabs of [unknown] concealer. Basically, you have the most flawless skin a girl could have. You got that peachy rosy cheek and then you have a little bit of discoloration perhaps under your eye which is so simple, just a really simple quick. With your fingers, spot face. Here I'm taking out the red in your nose, but I'm not ready foundationing. I'm lightly concealing and blending it all together with my finger. In Hollywood and then on the red carpet, sometimes girls really do have flawless skin and they can't get away with a spot face. He focuses on your eye or he'll make your lip an accent, whichever way you wanna go but as long as your skin looks really pretty, which you are very blessed, you'll be able to say you have great skin, you don't really need a full face of foundation. A light spot face like this and perhaps a light dusting of powder and you are good to go. Alexis, so on the red carpet, who do you look to watch for your makeup direction.
I really like Reese Weatherspoon.
Me too, she's a great girl. What about her do you like?
She always has a way to have flawless skin and then also she always does a great smoky eye, but always wanna try to do it but I can't 'cause I feel like I look like a raccoon putting so much makeup on.
Totally. Well actually, this summer, what I think is an amazing great smoky eye look is a bronze shimmer. I'm using something in a powder, but actually, basically, it sort of comes off creamy feeling, and what this is gonna do is gonna give you that smoky eye red carpet effect, but with your skin tone and your complexion and your hair coloring, it's gonna give you the definition and the warmth and the shape that smoky gives but I'm gonna use it in a bronze, which is a modern new color, and I think for you and your complexion, it's really gonna make your eyes pop, just basically rubbing at all end every where, and then afterwards, if you've got too much color on your eye, you can always smooth it off with your finger as I know you probably do. Do you like wearing shadow underneath your eye or how do you feel about that?
No, I've never done that before because I thought it would look like, Oh shouldn't put any concealer on.
Well I've already concealed spot faced you and what I'm gonna do is look up, straight up, I'm just gonna bring the same color all around at the base of your lash really quickly, you don't have to be perfect 'cause you want sort of like a young fresh makeup and I think trying to be too perfect about it is a waste of time because it always gets smooshed anyway. I think smooshed looks great.
Alexis, to complete your look and sort of blend it altogether, I'm gonna put on a little bit of, and now you are talking about bronze, and on your complexion, I'm not really going for a bronze but what I'm doing is warming you up with a bronzer a little bit and adding a shimmery pink, because we're going for a shimmery look altogether. Your eyes are shimmery and the cheeks are gonna have a little bit of a shimmer to them like that, just really warming up, and then with your lips, I love your shimmer lip glosses. The lip gloss now has transferred into the point where now, you don't have to worry about it usually smearing and running and stuff. Yours has a really high sheen on your lip gloss so it's like great for like maybe evening events or if you're going to like a club and you don't wanna have a full lip, strong lip look, this gives you sheen shape and it feels natural.
