Without even having a debut album out, Kreayshawn is already getting some serious buzz. Case in point? She's nominated for Best New Artist at this month's MTV Music Awards (airing Aug. 28).

A singer-songwriter from Oakland, California, she's quite the renaissance woman — or "a creative," as she calls it. In addition to making music, she writes scripts, sews, designs websites, and even babysits! So, we talked to Kreayshawn about her mom's all-girl band, found out her favorite reality TV show, and convinced her to sing her go-to karaoke song.
