3 Editor-Approved Activewear Ensembles to Wear This Winter
The right balance between style and performance.

I've consistently dreaded winter because of its gloomy weather and early sunsets that keep me trapped inside. But this year, I'm determined to find ways to make the most of (and maybe even appreciate) the cold weather. So I've decided to take up running as a way to get outdoors and keep my body moving. Before I get ahead of myself, I'll first need to invest in some sporty activewear pieces that keep me warm but also offer great mobility. On's active apparel, shoes, and accessories are not only designed with performance in mind but are also equipped to handle the climate of any winter destination. Whether I'm taking strides along the coast, dodging pedestrians in a crowded metropolis, or challenging myself at higher elevations, these are three activewear ensembles I can't wait to wear this winter.
As a current Los Angeles resident, I can assure you that winter by the beach is not something to take lightly. The air is crisp, and the coastal breeze always seems to take me by surprise. While I can definitely get away with wearing a pair of running shorts (and of course, the matching sports bra), finding an extra layer to protect my body from the colder climate is key. I'd recommend a lightweight, water-repellent vest to stay shielded from the misty ocean air. And to accessorize the look, a cute merino wool headband will keep my ears covered, and it adds a cute touch!
Urban running requires a lot of focus because there are constant obstacles to be on the lookout for: passing cars, wandering pedestrians, and construction zones, to name a few. Regardless, the winter run will be well worth the busy streets, and if you're like me, the people-watching can be quite enjoyable, too. When it comes to finding the proper running attire, it's important to think about safety. Whether you're wearing an orange sports bra or cobalt-blue running shoes, bright pops of color are a smart move, not to mention a stylish one. And On's Performance Winter Tights Lumos are designed with a reflective print that shines day and night for added security. This look also happens to be cute enough to wear to post-run brunch or for a day of exploring the city.
A cozy trip to the mountains is on my winter bucket list, and since I'm always up for a challenge, the idea of a scenic run is tempting my inner adventure seeker. New terrain, steeper trails, and an increasingly colder climate are to be expected. Plus, the higher elevation means that now is not the time to skimp on layers. An insulated puffer jacket and warm, protective gloves are absolute essentials. And comfortable running shoes such as On's Cloudvista Waterproof sneakers, which are geared for off-roading, will only enhance the outdoor experience.
