Here's to sunny days.

I am what you would consider a sunglasses hoarder (or is “collector" a better word?). My collection nearly doubles in size every summer, so I’m always on the hunt for the best sunglasses to invest in. And in 2023, the sunglasses we're loving fall into eight easy-to-follow trends. Of course, I’ve taken the time to break them all down for you so that you can find your perfect pair from a great sunglasses brand, hours of endless scrolling not required.

The most in-demand sunglasses trends run the gamut, so you’re bound to find a pair that you love on this list. They include massively oversized frames reminiscent of ones that one of the Olsen twins might have worn 20 years ago right alongside color-tinted sunglasses that have been recently spotted on It-girls like Kendall Jenner and Billie Eilish. Or, if you’re into a softer-looking silhouette, oval-shaped frames are also popping up all over the internet (and have been spotted on the likes of Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid, no less!). Oh, and who can forget those sporty frames that Kim Kardashian has been wearing lately? Those shield styles are also very much “in” this season, too.

So, if you’re ready to stock up on a few new pairs, keep reading to find the very best sunglasses to shop in 2023. Here’s to putting your best face forward (and to protecting your eyes from the sun, of course!).

Colorfully tinted sunnies have been trending for a while now (remember when orange-hued shades were everywhere in 2021?!) but this season's iterations are pastel-toned and very much inspired by the music videos of the early '00s.

Classic Cat-Eye

What's old is new again, especially when it comes to sunglass trends. This season, cat-eye silhouettes are dominating, so long as they're slightly oversized and dramatic. A lover of classically feminine style, Paris Hilton has been spotted in the shape a lot recently.

Everything's Coming Up Oval

Celebrities like Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber have been spotted in oval-shaped frames recently. There's something '90s-inspired and grungy about the silhouette, calling back to Kurt Cobain's signature white and black frames. This season, opt for ovals that come in monochromatic shades for a supermodel-approved look.

Kate Middleton has long been a fan of the square sunglasses. You can't beat the shape if you're looking for a timeless style that looks good with just about any ensemble. And if you're in the mood to buy a pair of Middleton-approved lenses, shop the Ray-Bans below.

Sporty Shields

Kim Kardashian is just one of the many (many) celebrities who have been spotted in sporty shades in 2022. Her new signature style even popped up at the Vanity Fair Oscars party, where both she and sister Kendall Jenner were photographed wearing similar silhouettes.

Hide-Your-Face Oversized Frames

If you want to hide half your face with your preferred pair of sunglasses, this style is for you. Massively oversized sunglasses are everywhere yet again in 2023, most recently spotted on celebrities like Ciara.

Aviator Nation

Aviators are always trending in my book. The slender frames are a truly classic piece in my sunglasses collection, and I can't seem to get enough of them right now. Stock up on frames that come in simple colorways like gold and brown like Jennifer Lopez, a longtime fan of the shape.

While micro-mini sunglasses might not be trending anymore, their (slightly) larger sibling, slender rectangle-shaped frames, most certainly are. Spotted recently on Billie Eilish on the 2022 Grammy Awards red carpet and Kendall Jenner in Paris, this shape is here to stay.
