Each season on my Substack, Don’t Over Fink It, I curate a mood board inspired by intentional styles, rather than fleeting trends. And while I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a minimalist in the traditional sense, I tend to gravitate toward pieces that boast clean lines, simple silhouettes, and a touch of personality.

This fall, I’m grounding my capsule wardrobe in three uniforms that embrace autumn classics like leather outerwear, denim pants, rich suede separates, and sturdy trench coats. These easygoing staples feel lived-in, but still strong—familiar, yet directional.

Look One: Leather Jacket + White Jeans

I’m not ready to let go of summer—and I shouldn’t have to. My white denim is staying in rotation, acting as the perfect canvas for richer, fall-forward textures. Paired with my Nour Hammour Artiste leather jacket (which I’ve been wearing on repeat), the look strikes a balance between structured and effortless.

I love the duality of this jacket—zipped all the way up, it becomes sculptural and sharp, and when it’s worn open, it relaxes into something casual and cool. I stole a plaid shirt from my husband’s closet and wrapped it around my waist (a little nod to undone ‘90s style). Then, I added a basic tee, suede boots for texture, and finished it all off with my Row Bindle bag—because I’m in my big bag era.

Look Two: Trench Coat + Denim Pants

I could quite possibly wear a trench coat every single day—it just works. There’s something about its simplicity and structure that instantly pulls a look together without trying too hard. Not to mention, the latest New York Fashion Week runways proved that khaki isn’t going anywhere—which gives me more reason to double down on great trenches.

For this outfit, I paired a classic trench with low-slung Agolde jeans, suede brown boots, my go-to white tee, and a deep brown oversized tote. I love the tonal tension between the khaki trench and the darker bag—it adds a quiet strength, without overpowering the look.

Look Three: Suede Bomber + Bootcut Bottoms

Going back to my fall moodboard that I mentioned earlier; one thing I always lean into is shape. I like building looks that sculpt—visually and emotionally. This suede bomber is all about that. From the funnel neck to the wide sleeves, it creates a strong silhouette without being too loud. I teamed it with beautiful bootcut jeans—this pair from Nili Lotan moves with you but still holds its line. Then came the bag—I chose an oversized Bottega, because I want to carry my entire life with me.

The subdued tones—camel, washed indigo, and deep brown—blend quietly but confidently. It’s a palette I return to repeatedly. And what I love most about this look is that each piece holds its own. Styled together, they feel elevated and complete. Worn separately, they’ll earn their keep in your wardrobe all season.
