I don’t know if it’s been the change in seasons or if I feel like I’ve been looking more tired than usual, but I have been flying through the under-eye patches in my skincare collection. Every day (and sometimes even twice a day), I peruse my options, pick a patch that addresses my skin concerns for the day, and pop it on while I work, do chores, or relax in my room. Whether I want to brighten, depuff, or lift, there’s an under-eye mask option for practically anything.
Of course, like any other cosmetic product, not all eye patches are created equal, and I’ve actually thrown away entire product lines because they simply weren't up to par with what I was looking for or expecting. But what exactly should you be on the hunt for in your under-eye patches of choice? “Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, caffeine, and niacinamide,” Hadley King, MD, previously told Marie Claire. “Emollients like jojoba and argan oils and ceramides [also] help to support the skin barrier, and occlusives help to lock in moisture.”
Of course, I’ve been testing away for the past few weeks so I’ve built up quite a fabulous (if I do say so myself) roster of recommendations for anyone on the prowl for the best under-eye patches that money can buy. From luxury favorites that I highly recommend splurging on to drugstore beauty staples and even a few K-beauty formulas that I love, keep reading to get your skincare routine in tip-top shape ahead of the fall season.

Best Overall Under-Eye Patches
I am down to my last pair of these eye patches, and I honestly want to make a shrine to them instead of using them on my face. These are hands down the best eye patches that I’ve ever used for lifting, tightening, and brightening my under-eye area. While the price for a pack of six quickly humbled me, I honestly think they are worth it. From the way they sit on the skin to the fact that they stay in place even when I’m wearing my glasses (!!!), it’ll be hard to find anything better if this is your introduction to the space. That said, I wholeheartedly recommend them.
Review: “They actually work. I was so skeptical that these patches would do me any good. I have dark circles and some deep wrinkles under my eyes. But after wearing them for 20 minutes, I was amazed to see that I looked so much better, like I had a good night's sleep and lost 10 years.... I saw very reduced circles, no deep wrinkles, and even the skin texture glowed in a healthy, relaxed way. I used them twice so far, and each time saw a remarkable improvement.” — Dermstore
Best Luxury Under-Eye Patches
These were the eye patches that started my obsession with the category. I applied a pair while cleaning one day, and when I took them off, I was actually shocked by the difference in how my under-eyes looked. They were moisturized, brighter, and just really bouncy—the whole trifecta.
Review: “These were nice soothing eye patches, very gel-like and easy to apply. They didn’t irritate my skin or have any smell, and they were a dream to have on. I saw a difference after using them and then putting my makeup on for the day. The application was seamless, and I didn’t have any creasing. I would definitely buy them in the future. I was sent this product in return for my review.” — Sephora
Best Drugstore Under-Eye Patches
I came across this brand in a gift bag and completely fell in love with the eye patches. Not only do they feel phenomenal on the skin, but they are soaked in a ton of serum in each sachet, so once I put them on, I use the leftovers on my hands. Feels like a win-win to me.
Review: “Completely obsessed! New to the under-eye mask world and it exceeded my expectations! The eye masks are now firmly a part of my skincare routine.” — Grace & Stella
Best K-Beauty Under-Eye Patches
If you have any fine lines or wrinkles, Beauty of Joseon has eye patches with your name on them. Ingredients like bakuchiol and adenosine help improve skin texture and address facial lines, and for someone who has experienced these issues due to under-eye hollowness, the difference these masks make is immediately noticeable.
Review: “As a person with dark under0eye circles i been using this for about 2 months and a really liked the results, i’m not huge fan of this kind of products but they are very gentle with skin, you probably can’t see an instant result but if you are constantly using them, it is worth it, my eyes look less puffy and with less dark color, about the smell i think it is more like tea or grassy smell nothing i could not handle!” — Sephora
Best Brightening Under-Eye Patches
As the beauty team can attest to, I have no qualms about jumping on a Zoom with eye patches on. Most recently, I wore these YISE patches after a rough night of very little sleep, and after I took them off, no one would’ve even been able to tell. My under-eyes looked awake and even a little plumper, which was not an effect I was expecting to see so drastically. If you have experienced any lack of volume under the eye area, pick these up immediately.
Review: “After using this product every morning during my trip to NY, I came to realize that it’s amazing. The depuffing and the brightening it gives afterward are just on another level. I added it to my routine due to travel, and it certainly works. Honestly love how easy they are and the results after.” — Sephora
Best Reusable Under-Eye Patches
Reusable under-eye patches aren’t a category that I thought I’d be into, but Dieux is the brand that changed my mind. The Forever Eye Masks are made of medical-grade silicone and stay in place once you put them on your eyes. You can also use them with any product in your eye routine (though the brand recommends pairing them with its Auracle Eye Serum). The magic is in the way the patches allow your skincare to marinate—you’ll be awed by your results every time.
Review: “I purchase these so often as a gift for people because they are just that good! I’ve gotten so many questions asking if these work and are worth it, and my answer is YES. Think about the environment and the cost-effectiveness of investing in a high-quality under-eye cream while letting the cream marinate with washable, reusable eye masks! They don’t slip off my face/eyes and really stay put. I love the concept of reusable eye masks.” — Sephora
Best De-Puffing Under-Eye Patches
If you’re on the hunt for patches that have caffeine, Rhode’s Peptide Eye Prep should be on your radar. Not only do they feel incredible on the skin (there’s a cooling sensation that’s one of the strongest I’ve ever felt from an under-eye patch), but the caffeine really helps to brighten the area, and the difference is immediately noticeable. Additionally, this is another one of those patches that completely stays put once applied on your face.
Review: “I thought for sure these were all hype; no way they’re as good as everyone says. I was solidly positive it was a bunch of influencers being paid to push them and wear them around because they look cool. Nope. I was wrong. They really are that good. My eyes never feel as soft and smooth as when I use these. I’ve also never seen an eye patch leave my under-eye so bright and clear; the photo I added shows how red my skin was, but the patches left my under-eye clear and refreshed. They also just feel good. They’re cooling and refreshing, and I look forward to using them.” — Sephora
Best Under-Eye Patches for Dark Circles
I recently took these eye patches on vacation with me, and they were fantastic. They hydrated and brightened thanks to hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, and shea butter, but the fascinating thing is that the beautiful, reflective packaging actually serves a purpose. They are designed to retain heat to prevent product evaporation, which in turn allows for maximum serum absorption.
Review: “I bought this as part of a collection of products in December. I have always been skeptical of eye-patch products because I have sensitive, aging skin. These patches were a wonderful surprise! I leave them on a little longer than directed. In the morning, my eye area looked moisturized, smooth, refreshed, and glowing. I will purchase them again. Beautiful results!” — Dermstore.com
When Is the Best Time to Use Under-Eye Patches?
While the type of under-eye patch you use is entirely up to you and your skin goals, using them at the right stage in your routine is essential. “Under-eye patches work best on clean skin, before moisturizer,” Mona Gohara, MD, tells me. “Think of them as a quick hydration boost that helps ingredients like hyaluronic acid and caffeine sink in.”
Pro tip: Dr. Gohara recommends using eye patches after traveling or eating certain foods, as well. “I love them after a long flight or after a salty dinner,” she says. “They're a quick reset button when your eyes need to look as refreshed as you feel.”
Is There a Correct Way to Apply Under-Eye Patches?
The answer to this question is a little nuanced, but long story short? Yes, there is a correct way to use under-eye patches. “Place the patch where your biggest concern is,” Dr. Gohara says. “If puffiness is the issue, position the wider end toward the inner corner of the eye where swelling tends to collect. If you're targeting crow's feet, flip the wider end toward the outer corner to give those fine lines a little more love.” Either way, she says to make sure the patch sits just below the lash line and not too close to the eye itself. Keeping your vision intact is the most important part of this entire process.
