In response to the Women's Marches (opens in new tab) which took place all around the world (opens in new tab) on Saturday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took to Twitter to voice his awe and respect for those who participated in his home country.

"Congratulations to the women and men across Canada who came out yesterday to support women's rights," he wrote on Sunday. "You keep your government inspired."

Of course, his response was in stark contrast to what President Donald Trump had to say (opens in new tab) about the protests on Sunday morning.

"Watched protests yesterday but was under the impression that we just had an election!" he wrote. "Why didn't these people vote? Celebs hurt cause badly."

Contrary to his rhetorical question, however, hundreds of people were quick to respond to the tweet by giving him a gentle reminder that they did vote—and that he lost the popular vote by almost three million (opens in new tab).
