Rebecca, blogger, 25, on vacation in L.A.

WEDNESDAY
2:00 p.m. Arrive in L.A. for a visit. Excited to see B., a guy I used to secretly hook up with when I lived here a year ago. Haven’t gotten laid in way too long. It’s making me neurotic.

7:00 p.m. Meet some friends, including B., for dinner. Afterward, he drives away. Feeling pretty abandoned.

9:10 p.m. Text B.: “Did you want to hang out tonight?”

9:12 p.m. He calls. “Yes, come over!”

THURSDAY
11:30 p.m. After a night out with the girls, arrive at B.’s. He’s asleep. I’m starting to fall for him, but he’s never been a fan of commitment. Get in bed.

FRIDAY
12:20 p.m. At B.’s, who’s hanging with his best friend. Friend makes comments about my breasts. Roll my eyes at B. He sort of smiles back. Something’s wrong.

2:30 p.m. “What’s going on?” I ask. “Do you want me to leave?” He shakes his head. Turns out, B. needs to have leg surgery. It’s official: I’m self-absorbed.

6:30 p.m. A night on the town with friends, including B. Run into Kenny, whom I’ve slept with a few times. I hug him. Hope B. is watching.

12:00 a.m. At B.’s, we have sex. After, I say, “I’m freaking out. My feelings are involved in this.” He bangs his fist against the headboard. “We need to have this conversation,” he says. “But I can’t do it right now. Good night.”

SUNDAY
2:00 p.m. B. has a small party. He’s talking to a gorgeous girl. Decide he is dating her. Pack suitcase and leave.

2:35 p.m. B. calls and asks, “What happened?” I apologize. I’m acting crazy.

5:30 p.m. Run into an ex-boyfriend at restaurant. He says he’s engaged without much enthusiasm.

7:00 p.m. We go to a hotel.

7:45 p.m. Ex-boyfriend leaves me cash to cover the room. “I never stopped loving you.” Ask why he is marrying her. “Well, it’s not like she’s not a nice person!”

10:50 p.m. Arrive at B.’s. He says gorgeous girl is just a friend but confirms he’s in no position to be in a relationship. Feel even better about my decision to sleep with ex-boyfriend.

TUESDAY
11:45 p.m. Back at home with roommates. Discuss our friends’ troubled relationships, overlooking the fact that all three of us are still single.
