Who Is Amandla Crichlow, Actor and Daniel Kaluuya's Rumored Girlfriend?

Here's everything we could dig up about Crichlow, who is notably not on social media.

After a certain Daniel Kaluuya interview went viral–you know, the one where he harmlessly flirted with world renowned journalist and CBS This Morning host Gayle King–you may have asked yourself, does this man have a girlfriend? You may have even bookmarked a few Daniel Kaluuya-inspired fancams or rewatched his Golden Globes virtual acceptance speech where he told the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that they were doing him dirty after they mistakenly left his mic muted. So, does the Oscar-nominated Judas and the Black Messiah actor have a girlfriend? Asking for a friend…

The short answer is probably yes. The longer answer is a bit more complicated. Although the star has been linked to Amandla Crichlow for some time now–they’ve been an item since at least 2017 or 2018–they have never publicly confirmed their relationship. But, she’s been spotted at Kaluuya’s side since at least 2017 when they appeared on the MTV Movie & TV Awards Red Carpet together. Since then, the couple has been spotted together at multiple award shows and red carpets. What else do we know about Crichlow?

She’s produced short films and worked on major TV shows like Peaky Blinders.

According to Crichlow’s IMDB profile, she’s worked as a production coordinator on numerous British TV shows. She has six Peaky Blinders episodes under her belt, along with production credits for the shows ToonedThe Good Karma Hospital, and Curfew. While doing all of these projects, she also works as a producer at Kaluuya’s production company 59%, according to her LinkedIn profile. Most recently, she served as the executive producer on the short film Two Single Beds.

She’s also acted in numerous projects.

Crichlow is a double threat. Before she moved into production, she has had an acting career that dates back to 2006. She appeared in the TV shows Prime Suspect 7: The Final ActHolby City, and The Bill. She’s also starred in the short films Cowboys and Anonymous. Her sister Leonora is also an actor.

She is the daughter of Black British activist Frank Crichlow.

After Crichlow’s father moved to London’s Notting Hill neighborhood from Trinidad in 1953, he opened up a restaurant that became the site of what his The Guardian obituary called, “black urban resistance in the face of police persecution.” The Mangrove opened in 1968, where clients like Jimi Hendrix, Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Sammy Davis Jr., and Diana Ross would frequent the joint for its West Indian cuisine. Because the restaurant was located in what The Guardian calls “UK’s black-culture capital,” it was the subject of frequent raids and police persecution. In 1970, Crichlow took it upon himself to protest the police’s racist tactics and set up the Mangrove Community Association after he was wrongfully imprisoned for “riot and affray.” He continued to advocate for his community well into the 90s.

She doesn’t have much of a public social media presence

Good for her!
