Much like the rest of the Internet, the new cover of Newsweek totally creeps me out. It pictures a digitized version of Princess Diana had she lived to turn 50, "walking" with her daughter-in-law.
Thought it's certainly drumming up a ton of press. My favorite line comes from Jezebel where writer Dodai Stewart refers to the story as the "shudder-inducing fanfic of the week", which is such a spot-on description. Newsweek editor and Diana biographer, Tina Brown pens the story about what Diana would have been like now, including affairs both romantic and philanthropic. There's even a fake Facebook mock-up.
I'm going to plant myself firmly on the side of unnecessary with this stunt, especially for Newsweek. But what do you think? Is it fun to imagine Di Tweeting from a London fashion show? Or going shopping with Duchess Catherine? Or does it creep you out too?
