Growing up, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Marie Claire's spring 2021 cover star, lent out her books to kids in her neighborhood, keeping track of them like a librarian. Today, her book collection looks a little different while filming in London, as seen in Marie Claire’s latest episode of Shelf Portrait, where celebrities, influencers, and famous bookworms invite us inside their homes to show off their personal libraries.
Chopra Jonas made sure to bring some of her favorite books with her—and buy some new ones!—while on location. Some of her top picks include Aravind Adiga's Amnesty (Adiga is also the author of the book Chopra Jonas's upcoming film, The White Tiger, is based on), and Yaa Gyasi's Homegoing. She also loves Michelle Obama's Becoming, Jawaharlal Nehru's Letters from a Father to His Daughter, and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Her all-time favorite book cover is Watchmen (she's a big fan of graphic novels), and her favorite fiction crush is Archie Andrews from the Archie Comics (!!).
For those of you who are part of a book club, Chopra Jonas recommends her upcoming memoir, Unfinished (out February 9) for your next pick. She says writing the book was "daunting but exhilarating at the same time," and she has a newfound respect for all of the authors she loves and admires—including the former first lady, whose memoir Chopra Jonas read while writing her own.
