While Princess Diana's aspirational style set many trends throughout the 1980s and '90s, many of her best looks are still en vogue today (and have even inspired one or two TikTok aesthetics). A quick look through her wardrobe parallels many of the season's most coveted fall 2024 trends across the runway and street style.

No one rocked a tailored suit like Diana, the People's Princess, and this season's viral color palettes like burgundy and olive green echo when the royal stepped out in one of her instantly memorable ensembles.

You may also have cowboy boots, baggy blazers, and leopard prints pinned to your fall mood board—all pieces that the late Princess of Wales effortlessly incorporated into her outfits with grace and personal style.

Ahead, we dissected five vintage outfits inspired by Diana, Princess of Wales, with pieces you can use to recreate the look yourself.

Leopard is everywhere this fall, and Princess Diana was well ahead of her time when she sported a wild Jantzen one-piece during a 1990 trip to Necker Island. And while she didn't step out in animal prints regularly, she wore a similar suit during a trip to St. Tropez shortly before her untimely August 1997 death.

Try out one of this season's biggest trends for yourself with everything from Diana-esque swimsuits to bags.

Burgundy

One of the standout colors of the season happened to be a shade Diana wore with aplomb, as seen during a Paul McCartney performance in 1992. And while her rich velvet corset dress wouldn't look out of place in 2024, you can recreate the trend with items like office-ready dresses and chic ballet flats.

Western

The image of Princess Diana standing on a polo field in a baseball cap, jeans, sweatshirt, and oversized blazer is perhaps one of the most iconic photos of the late royal. While the pic was taken in 1988, her cowboy boots are still hitting the trend lists.

Take the lead from Diana this season with western-inspired boots in shades from classic black to bold red.

Businesslike Blazers

Tailored suiting is hot this fall, but there's no need to rely on boring neutrals when it comes to your workwear. Look to Diana for inspo this season and think colorful skirt suits with a nipped-in waist.

Green

While brat summer might be over, green isn't going anywhere, and Princess Diana knew the power of a great green fit. Whether it was a dazzling teal gown or a pale mint dress, she frequently wore shades of the trendy fall '24 color.
