Amy Mackelden is a disabled writer and editor. She interviews celebrities for Nicki Swift, and her bylines include Harper’s BAZAAR (US), ELLE, Marie Claire, The Rumpus, The Independent, Hello Giggles, Cosmopolitan, heat, New Statesman, Ravishly, & Bustle.

She co-edited the Emma Press Anthology of Illness, and has written about health for Healthline, The Paper Gown, The Checkup by Singlecare, Folks by Pillpack, Greatist, HelloFlo, MS Society, MS Trust, and Byrdie. In 2019, she undertook Columbia University's short course in Narrative Medicine thanks to a Developing Your Creative Practice grant from Arts Council England.

She co-founded Northern poetry magazine Butcher’s Dog, and co-edits feminist pop culture blog Clarissa Explains F*ck All with Amy Roberts. In a past life, Amy was a creative writing teacher, a theater writer, and a sales associate at Tommy Hilfiger.
