Tangerine and Teal: The Insanely Gorgeous Makeup Pairing You Never Thought to Try

According to conventional makeup wisdom, it's always a bold lid or a bold lip, never both worn together. But rules were meant to be broken. This look created for Project Runway Episode 11 by Hector Simancas, Avon's lead makeup artist for Project Runway Season 16 proves poppy lids and lips are not mutually exclusive. Now's the time to break out of your color shell.

Step 1: Intensify Lids

Using Avon True Color Matte Eyeshadow Quad in Tranquility, dust the lightest blue shade (#2) over the entire lid from lash line to brow bone and along the inner corners with a fluffy eyeshadow brush. Next, sweep the teal shade (#3) across the lid and up to the crease. Then, with a tiny angled brush, drag the teal shadow along the lower lash line from inner corner to the center.

Step 2: Add Dimension

With an angled shadow brush, deepen the outer corners using the darkest blue shade (#4) of Avon True Color Matte Eyeshadow Quad in Tranquility. "This exaggerates the angles and enhances an almond shape," says Simancas. Then, take a small, flat angled brush and line the bottom lash line, going from outer corner to inner corner.

Step 3: Line & Define

Apply a gel liner like Avon True Color SuperShock Gel Eye Liner Pencil in Aqua Pop along the top lid and inside the water line. "This will encourage a smudgy effect once the liner starts to bleed a bit," says Simancas. Swipe Avon True Color SuperExtend Nourishing Mascara from mid to outer lashes to achieve a false lash effect.

"Since the eyeshadows are so bold, apply them before your foundation," says Simancas. "This makes cleaning up any fallen shadow easier. You won't have to redo your face makeup." And if you do need to swipe away residue: Simancas recommends running a clean sponge with a little moisturizer over the area. Next, highlight tops of cheeks and brow bones using Avon True Color Illuminator Stick in Rose Gold (available March 2018).

Step 5: Punch up Lips

Use Avon True Color Bold Lipstick in Coral Burst, which delivers concentrated color and lasting finish. "You can also add a bit to your cheeks for a monochrome glow," says Simancas. Dab a bit of shimmery gloss like Avon True Color Glazewear Lipgloss in Citrus Shine just to the center of your lips and blot them together.
