I Tested All 20 Westman Atelier Products—These 9 Are the Best
The creamy, on-the-go sticks are celebrity favorites for a reason.
Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anne Hathaway, and Reese Witherspoon have one thing—well, person—in common: celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman. For years, she’s been the woman behind the collective group’s crease-less concealer, glowing cheeks, and easy, breezy aesthetic. So when Westman launched her namesake brand, Westman Atelier, in 2018, she quickly counted the crew as brand fans.
Aniston loves the Vital Skincare Drops. Paltrow is a Baby Cheeks Blush fan—shade Petal is her go-to. Hathaway is a Vital Skincare Brightening Concealer girl, while Witherspoon wears Face Trace in shade Truffle daily. As a life-long fan of all of the above (Friends! Goop! Devil Wears Prada! Legally Blonde!), I like to think it’s a bit of beauty fate that I, too, count Westman Atelier as one of my favorite beauty brands.
I was among the first five to try the Skin Activator Serum (it’s a true savior for my rosacea-prone skin), and I have used the Lit Up Highlighter Stick every day since its launch. With magnetic lids, creamy formulas, and coverage best described as barely there but buildable, Westman Atelier offers a lineup that injects a little luxury into every day.
As someone who loves little luxuries (guilty), I naturally took it upon myself to test all 20 products from the brand. Here, shop my nine favorite Westman Atelier products that are genuinely worth every penny.
The Best Westman Atelier Products
I’ve had rosacea for as long as I can remember. For the uninitiated, the skin condition is marked by redness on the cheeks and nose (super cute) and can be triggered by harsh ingredients. Gucci knows my struggle—she’s also a rosacea girl—so I trust her with every bone in my body when she tells me this serum will be a savior for my sensitive skin. I’ve been using this product for nearly a year and swear my redness has calmed down, with flares happening significantly less. It also has a bit of a tacky grip that hugs my foundation, so I can skip the primer.
Key Ingredients: Hyaluronic acid (hydration), niacinamide (evens tone), prickly pear extract (soothes)
Who It’s For: All skin types, including sensitive skin
What We Love: Calms rosacea; hydrating; lightweight texture; luxurious bottle
What We Don’t: It does have a high price point
Is this the best product for coverage? Absolutely not. Calling it a skin tint may be generous. It’s more comparable to a face oil with a barely noticeable, glassy sheen. But when I cocktail it with the Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Concealer, I can snag a little extra coverage and still give my face a reflective mirror-like quality. The formula contains all the goods stuff for your skin: ginseng for firming, pomegranate extract for radiance, and Tsubaki oil for smoothing texture. When I use this regularly, my skin looks better with, and without, makeup.
Shades: 20
Finish: Radiant
Texture: Liquid
Coverage: Light
What We Love: Gives a gorgeous glow to the skin; easy to apply and blend; no brush needed; skincare ingredients that are equivalent to what you would find in a serum
What We Don’t: Can feel a bit wet on the skin—you definitely need some powder with this; it has a bit of a funky smell
This just-launched concealer is the newest addition to the Westman Atelier range, but believe me when I say it’s one of the best in the market. I have deep, borderline terrifying dark circles, and this is one of the only lightweight concealers capable of counteracting the purple hues. I apply it as Gucci instructed me: “Dot the concealer at the very inner corners of the eyes to neutralize darkness and again at the outer corners for a little lift.” I normally add a little extra on any pimples, redness, or discoloration. It adds a pretty glow and decent coverage. I will say it does start to separate a bit toward the end of the day, but it’s nothing a little touch-up can’t fix.
Shades: 16
Finish: Radiant
Texture: Liquid
Coverage: Medium
What We Love: Provides great coverage for dark circles; sets without powder
What We Don’t: It can start to separate at the end of the day
The pièce de résistance of Westman Atelier, Baby Cheeks, is a universal favorite. Nine shades make up the blush collection, ensuring a hue works for every skin tone. I’m personally partial to shade Petal, a dusty nude rose. It has a super creamy texture, never disturbs or lifts my base, and provides a flush-like finish—like I just braved the cold or went for a run. Even though it’s fairly soft, the color is pigmented enough to deliver a decent payoff in one swipe. Translation: one stick will last you forever.
Shades: 9
Finish: Natural
Texture: Cream
What We Love: Very easy to blend with fingers or a brush; comprehensive shade choices for all skin tones; pigmented without being too intense; multi-purpose and can be used on lips, cheeks, and eyes
What We Don’t: I wish the bottle was a bit slimmer for travel purposes
My MVP and number one draft pick from Westman Atelier is Lit Up. Once upon a time, there was only a clear option (it’s great for a no-makeup day), but I fell deeply in love with the highlighter when the shade Nectar was added to the collection. It’s the perfect peachy-pink shimmer and single-handedly delivers the glass skin finish I thought was unattainable. I lay it on thick, sometimes even adding a stroke to my eyelids or lips. Drag it along your cheekbones and blend it out with your fingertips.
Shades: 4
Finish: Glassy
Texture: Gel
What We Love: Gorgeous glassy finish; tinted shades don’t overpower blush color; can also be used on lids and lips
What We Don’t: This high-shine finish is not for those who want a subtle shine
As a Fitzpatrick II, my skin is pale. I welcome bronzers with open arms, but finding a shade that leaves me looking tan—rather than orange or ruddy—has proved to be a two-decade-long journey. Enter: Biscuit, a cool beige coffee tone that warms up my complexion and works with my pink undertones. I’m big on the underpainting technique, so I typically do heavy strokes on the contours of my face before adding my foundation on top. It blends so easily with your fingertips, so I never have to worry about harsh lines or clumping.
Shades: 3
Finish: Natural
Texture: Cream
What We Love: Very blendable texture; Biscuit is ideal for fair, cool skin tones; works well with both cream and powder textures
What We Don’t: I’d like to see more shade options for different undertones
A dream come true for the eyeshadow inept (hi, that’s me), these little trios have the perfect color combination already sorted out for you. Rendezvous is my personal favorite. Candidly, I was a bit terrified of the olive green and dark brown at first glance, but they’re very light on the skin—think of them like the perfect daytime smoky eye. The texture strikes a balance between a cream and a powder, so you can apply each with your fingers or a brush. Plus, the magnetic package snaps all three pots together, so I’m never digging aimlessly in my makeup bag.
Shades: 4
Finish: Matte and shimmer
Texture: Cream to powder
What We Love: No fallout during application; light finishes; magnetic attachments
What We Don’t: Hard to build up for an intense eye
Mascara is a very personal pick. Some want to lengthen. Others hope for volume. Maybe definition is your thing. I want it all, and that’s exactly what I get with Westman Atelier’s mascara. Available in black and brown, the buildable mascara can paint every lash with a thickening, darkening pigment. I never experience bleeding or flaking (my biggest pet peeve), and the formula doesn’t irritate my incredibly sensitive eyes.
Colors: 2
Benefits: Volume, length, definition
What We Love: Non-irritating for sensitive skin and eyes; never flakes or bleeds
What We Don’t: It doesn’t provide a curl for straight lashes
Many of the brand's die-hards name the Suede Matte Lipstick as their favorite, but I am a Squeky Clean Liquid Lip Balm fan. It’s a blend of gloss and balm, so you can expect the texture to be smooth and silky, the pigment to be visible, and for it to stay shiny for a few hours. I probably apply this 10 times every day—it’s addictive. I’m partial to the shade NANA, but all eight are great.
Colors: 8
Finish: Shiny
Texture: Gloss meets balm
What We Love: Non-sticky finish; deeply hydrating; great pigment for a balm
What We Don’t: Sometimes the color gets clumpy on the lips
