Last night, Kendrick Lamar dropped a new song and music video for "Humble." While rich with religious symbolism throughout, what really got people talking was the rapper's ode to natural beauty–stretch marks, in particular. Halfway through the video, amidst frames of a woman going back and forth from full-on makeup and slicked back hair to a bare face and natural hair, he goes:
I'm so fuckin' sick and tired of the Photoshop
Show me somethin' natural like afro on Richard Pryor
Show me somethin' natural like ass with some stretch marks
Still will take you down right on your mama's couch in Polo socks, ayy
Kendrick's lyrics have people on Twitter are singing praises:
So... I'm thinking about @kendricklamar's new video for #Humble & the casting call where they said. "Naw, sis. Not enough stretchmarks." pic.twitter.com/kXPKxWfQ40March 30, 2017
