I'm Building My Minimalist Winter Wardrobe at Nordstrom, and Everything Is Under $190
The retailer offers polished cold-weather pieces that make getting dressed easy.
Although it might seem excessive, I’ve already started assembling my rotation of winter outfits. I know, I know, Thanksgiving hasn’t even started yet! But I’m the type of person who likes to plan ahead, especially when it comes to my wardrobe. My style philosophy for the chilly season is simple: I always choose unfussy pieces rooted in ease. Dealing with inclement weather is a challenge on its own, and the last thing I want to do is stress about getting dressed.
With that in mind, I’m on the hunt for minimalist outfits that’ll fit right into my pared-down closet—and luckily, Nordstrom’s current sale has everything I could possibly need.
Ahead of Black Friday, the retailer is hosting a major markdown event that features up to 25 percent off a range of winter essentials—including outerwear, boots, sweaters, and more. While scouring Nordstrom’s sale section, I spotted an elegant faux fur coat and a pair of sleek black pants—a perfect pairing for holiday parties and festive gatherings. I also discovered a tailored blazer, a cozy cashmere top, and a charming pleated skirt—all of which will enhance my workwear lineup. The best part of all, though, is that every single item falls under $190, so I won’t have to break the bank to round out my wardrobe this season.

Textured Outerwear
I’ve found that the best way to elevate your winter outfit is with a touch of texture. I’ll do just that with a chocolate brown faux fur coat, which I’ll pair with black pants and pointy pumps. Featuring a sophisticated appeal, this look will rise to any upscale occasion.
A Pop of Red
Spotted in a variety of Resort 2027 collections—from Valentino to Carolina Herrera—cherry red is officially fashion’s favorite color trend. Given that I’m slightly intimidated by this vibrant shade, I’ll style it with plain pieces—like gray slacks and a straightforward peacoat.
The New Neutral
As a devoted minimalist, I rarely wear bold patterns. However, I’ll always make an exception for a leopard-print coat. Composed of black and brown hues, this look can easily be styled as a neutral. For winter, I’ll team this outerwear trend with jeans and black ankle boots—as seen above.
Trusty Trench
Coat trends come and go, but the classic trench is here to stay. For those winter days that feel more like fall, slip into a lightweight trench coat that’ll provide enough coverage without causing you to overheat. Chic accessories—like heeled suede boots and a hardware-adorned bag—will help to bring the look together .
Workin' 9 to 5
Thanks to this savvy street styler, I just found my new favorite work outfit. I love how the blazer and pleated skirt add a sharp edge, while the sumptuous sweater softens things up a bit. Whether I’m running between previews or putting together a trend report, I know this uniform will help me to get the job done in style.
Double Leather
On its own, a buttoned leather jacket feels inherently polished. But pair this glossy layer with a matching skirt, and watch how it rises to a whole new level. For my next night out on the town, I’ll make sure to copy this exact ensemble.
Less Is More
As I mentioned earlier, I really don’t like to overthink my winter wardrobe. Luckily, solving this outfit equation isn’t complicated. All I’ll need is a black knee-length coat, straight-leg jeans, and a white fringed scarf to add a hint of contrast.
