Any fashionista will tell you that wearing loafers with socks can instantly make an outfit feel ten times cooler. Just ask Hailey Bieber, who has relied on the tried-and-true styling trick for years. While the preppy combo reads “schoolgirl,” Bieber has given it a grown-up twist by teaming it with denim Bermuda shorts, lace-trimmed slip dresses, and polished athleisure sets.

The footwear trend has also become a designer favorite this season, with brands like Issey Miyake, Loro Piana, and Maison Margiela showcasing the look in their Spring 2026 collections.

Ahead, discover how to incorporate loafers and socks into your own wardrobe. Although these outfits are certainly spring-forward, you can adapt them for warmer weather by shedding layers and opting for lightweight fabrics.

For the Office

My co-workers will attest that I’ve been wearing this exact nine-to-five uniform nearly every week. However, I’m a proud outfit repeater, especially with a look that seamlessly strikes a balance between casual and chic.

Laid-back pieces like a COS shirt and Madewell jeans keep things relaxed, while a tailored Sézane trench and Coach loafers paired with Bombas socks provide a sophisticated feel. My sleek Cuyana tote completes the ensemble, offering enough space for all my in-office essentials.

On the Go

This has swiftly become my go-to errand outfit for warmer days. The cushioned Stuart Weitzman loafers make running around much easier. Plus, my Khy T-shirt, J.Crew button-down, and Agolde Bermuda shorts offer a fit that’s both comfortable and flattering.

Whether I’m heading to the grocery store or grabbing a latte at my local coffee shop, I’ll usually choose this over a sweat set when I want to feel more put-together.

Easy to Assemble

What I love most about this look is its simplicity. It only requires a Uniqlo zip-up, a Banana Republic tee, and an Aritzia mini skirt. I’ll usually pair these items with platform Franco Sarto loafers, which quite literally help to elevate the look.

Pro tip: when temperatures rise, ditch the sweater jacket and stick with the base layers.
