To add even more dimension to your lip color, try swiping on a slightly darker color on your top lip than your bottom lip. So goes the unconventional wisdom at the Cushnie et Ochs show, where makeup artist Sammy Mourabit color-blocked with a cherry red M.A.C. lipstick on top and a bright pink on the bottom look. For a fuller pout, line with a red pencil first.

Cherry Red (As Seen at Creatures of the Wind)
To tone down deep red lips with a glossy finish, the beauty gurus at Creatures of the Wind blotted a cherry red lip shade with a fuchsia blush over and over again to achieve an electric matte effect. They used Nars' Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in 'Dragon Girl,' but for a range of classic reds, check out Shiseido's Rouge Rouge lipsticks, too.

Dusty Pink (As Seen at Brock Collection)
At the Brock Collection show, the beauty looks were all about muted, barely-there pinks, which are ideal for a nude lip you can wear every day. The best part? Makeup artists worked with drugstore shades from the new Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color collection.

Deep Plum (As Seen at Maison Margiela)
The plum-colored pout seen here at the Maison Margiela show—contrasted with a bright dye job—is one badass look to try on your next night out. To get the same supersaturated finish as Pat McGrath's gothy plum, the key is to layer, layer, layer (and expect to reapply throughout the day). If you want a vinyl look, add a hint of gloss on the cupid's bow as she did.

Fuchsia Pink (As Seen at Bibhu Mohapatra)
What could be more seasonal than a lip shade the hue of a tropical flower? The Bibhu Mohapatra show played with lots of color this season and matched his playful prints with equally loud lips. Stellar Infinite's new lipstick line offers a similar tutti-frutti palette, like this coral/fuchsia number.

Rosy Pink (As Seen at Chanel)
Makeup artists at the Chanel show combined rosy hues (of their Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour and Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colour, to be exact) to create this pretty-in-pink look. Then, they added a layer of shine with a light lip gloss.
Jason Wu loves an eye-catching lip moment, which is why he ditched the classic red lip this season for more energetic orange-reds and tangerine oranges. If you're tired of sweeping on the same ol' muted palette, a vibrant orange color is always a fun shade to pack on your next vacation *and* it pairs well with brighter summer hues.

Red Wine (As Seen at Anna Sui)
Beauty wizard Pat McGrath achieved the wine-colored stains at the Anna Sui spring show by layering to create a rich plum-colored effect, then adding her Skin Fetish balm on top for a wetter look. Unless you're wiling to put yourself on the waitlist for one of her lip kits, though, you can recreate the look by blotting on a deeper lip color that has a natural sheen.

Clear Gloss (As Seen at Delpozo)
Though the spring runways were punctuated by many varieties of bold lip shades, another overarching trend was the natural, no-lipstick lip. Many designers, like Delpozo, chose to go for a fresh-faced look that instead focused on the eyes, cheeks, or just the clothes themselves. For a slightly glossy sheen, try a plumping gloss like Makeup Forever's latest HD Lip Booster.
