Valentine's Day Date with The Vow

Valentine's Day Date with The Vow

I'm generally not a big V-Day girl, but I couldn’t say no to the new saccharine romantic flick, The Vow. (It stars Rachel McAdams at her quirkiest! It’s based on a real-life love story! It has potential to be The Notebook 2.0)!

As a guest of Ralph Lauren Romance (the brand is a film sponsor), I turned up to the Hollywood premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theater on the heels of McAdams and her costar, Channing Tatum, who were greeted by throngs of teens crowded onto Hollywood Boulevard.

Without revealing too much of the plot, I can say McAdams (who plays Paige) gives up her finest tears and infectious laughs in plenty of scenes (while transitioning through some er, interesting hairstyles). Tatum is at her side, playing an emo Leo who just happens to like strutting around in the buff.

Is there a fairytale ending? Watch this video (spoiler alert!) of the real-life couple that inspired the story to find out.

Post screening, we all headed across the street to the Hollywood Roosevelt for the wedding reception-cum-after-party (think buffet dinner and oodles of pink roses), where guests gawked at the cast—and this pretty cake from Sweet Lady Jane.

So, will Leo and Paige knock out Noah and Allie? The audience seems to think so: The Vow pulled in $41.7 million in its debut weekend, topping charts as the strongest opening of 2012.

For your own stake in the love story, go see the film! Then, visit Marie Claire's Facebook page in April, and enter to win a bottle of the brand new Ralph Lauren Romance Summer Blossom, a subtly sweet, fruity-floral take on the original. Here's a sneak peek!
