Nicole Kidman, Oscar winner and eternal beauty icon, has been changing up her strands and giving us salon reference photo inspiration for decades. The red! The layers! The high pony that deserves an award of its own! Well, it appears she's done it again, and it's a more dramatic hair transformation than ever before.

We've seen a ton of pixies from celebs as of late, but this one feels like some major inspo for a transitional 'do. That's why we're dubbing this look "pixie: the extended cut." Rather than cropping the hair around the temples like a standard version of the style, Kidman's got tapered strands around her ears that totally soften the look. It's giving us Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell in Hook, a.k.a., the original pixie, and anything that brings both Kidman and Roberts' hair top of mind is good enough for us.

This look might not last, though. It's likely just a wig for her new role in Roar, which wrapped last week. The Apple TV+ anthology series comprised of women-driven tales comes from Glow creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, and has a stacked cast including Kidman, Alison Brie, Cynthia Erivo, and Merritt Wever. (Kidman is even a producer, via her own company Blossom Films.) Judging by Kidman's cut, we're in for some radical new material, and maybe Kidman will even return to these chic cropped strands in the future. And if she doesn't, maybe we will.
