It's been a while since I've hit the slopes, so I was a little nervous when Nike invited me to Windham Mountain Ski Resort in upstate New York to snowboard and view their new collection. On top of getting me up the chairlift (as if that wasn't comical enough), women's pro-surfer Monyca Byrne-Wickey was in the mix and put me to shame despite it being her first time on a snowboard. While riding the slopes I chatted with Monyca about Nike's new spring line she helped create, and of course, grilled her on her beauty regimen.
Monyca played a big part in the design process and loves the TS4YL Women's Pants and Lux Layer T-Shirt which are not only comfortable but fashionable, making a transition anywhere from the beach to the mountains effortless. But her favorite item would, of course, have to be the Monyca Brazilian Tempo-Twist Bikini. This two-piece was based on a suit that Monyca sewed herself and sent to Nike. (The idea was to create something she could feel "cute"in but still would be functional when out surfing.)
Obviously, I had to ask Monyca how she maintains her flawless looks when catching the waves. Here are a few of the products she uses to help combat the sun and ocean:
Monyca relies on Paul Mitchell Super Skinny to tame her "sometimes unmanageable" hair. Super Skinny smoothes and conditions by penetrating hair and speeding up the drying process.
She applies Moroccan Oil before going to bed to strengthen and condition her long, ombre-colored locks. The oil revives and hydrates her hair to protect against the sun's rays.
In order to combat the sun, Monyca swears by Vertra Sunscreen to help prevent damage. If she does manage to get too much sun, Surfer's Salve helps Monyca with everything from chapped lips to soothing sunburns.
Lucas Papaw Ointmentis Monyca's go-to to treat rashes and wounds.
