It’s quite literally my job to stay on top of new beauty launches. Yet, Pat McGrath somehow managed to secretly debut her latest lip launch weeks ago without causing a stir. Apparently, the brand’s new Dramatique Mega Lip Pencil, available on Friday, May 31 for purchase, made its red carpet debut at the Met Gala two weeks ago.
McGrath used the high-impact, lip-liner-meets-lipstick to finish off both Naomi Campbell and Tyla’s looks for the "Garden of Time"-themed evening. The legendary supermodel paired her natural lip look with custom, shimmery Burberry, while Met first-timer Tyla channeled the sands of time in bespoke Balmain.
It was only to be expected that Pat decided to sneak a new launch into her red carpet kit for fashion's biggest night. The product has been designed specifically to provide intense color payoff and long-wear—two must-have qualities for a big event.
Unlike other lip pencils, you won’t experience any feathering or fading with McGrath's. This one was intentionally developed to wear like a lipstick.
“It has the intense pigment and lush texture of a lipstick, but the tapered, pencil-like tip gives you both precision and the opportunity to play,” Pat said in a press release shared with Marie Claire. The versatility allows you to create whatever lip look your heart desires, be it a soft blur, highly defined statement, or subtle liner.
There are 12 shades in the range, most of which land in the pink-red-berry color family. I personally have my eye on Coral Lust, a nude coral, and Flashbulb Fuchsia, a deep, vibrant pink. Regardless of which you choose, your lips will be met with a demi-matte suede finish and a hydrating formula that lends itself to comfortable all-day wear.
While there are still a few days until the new lippies are available for purchase, there are plenty of existing Pat McGrath lip products to shop before the Met Gala beauty moment can be yours.
