During my last marathon of work travel—three weeks throughout Europe and the US—I ran out of my go-to (very expensive) face cream and decided I should save a few bucks and try a drugstore-buy instead. Generally, cashmere socks can set you back hundreds of dollars, so the price of these is a win for your bank account and a win for whoever you happen to buy them for (even if that person is just you).

Last year journalist and author Lauren Sherman told me about a pair of hoop earrings she bought for under $20.
