As with every show, Hollywood took a moment during its most celebrated evening to remember those we lost in the year past. The 86th Annual Academy Awards paid tribute to actors including Philip Seymour Hoffman, Shirley Temple, James Gandolfini, and more, however notably left off the list was Cory Monteith.
The Glee actor, who died in July from a toxic combination of alcohol and heroin, became known after appearing in small roles in Final Destination 3 and some television series, including Smallville. He catapulted into fame after being in cast in Glee, alongside his soon-to-be real life girlfriend, Lea Michele. One year before his death, Monteith wrapped shooting the film All the Wrong Reasons, which debuted at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival.
Last week, Michele spoke out about her tribute song to her late boyfriend, which detailed their final conversation. Titled "If You Say So," the heartwrenching lyrics take listeners through the the last conversation, in which the couple says they love each other, with Michele saying, "I love you more." Monetith responded, "If you say so."
