Because women's looks are *still* open for discussion, the latest female celebrity to be Renée Zellweger-ed in the public discourse is Meg Ryan. Sigh.
After Ryan introduced a performance by the cast of She Loves Me at Sunday's Tony Awards, jabs about her "new look" came trickling in.
"I don't pay a lot of attention frankly," she said of plastic surgery speculation in an interview with Porter magazine last year. "There's a lot of hatred in the world today; it's so easy to judge. Imagine being a hater, how stupid! My women friends are not sitting around talking about...well, sometimes there are conversations like that, but the people I value talk about kids growing up, what kind of world they are going into, what we are eating, what we are breathing."
Totally good and reasonable and *logical.* And yet...we've still got randos scrutinizing a total stranger's face WHERE THERE ARE SO MANY MORE VALUABLE THINGS TO BE TALKING ABOUT. We repeat: SIGH.
