What Are Your Resolutions for the New Year?

What Are Your Resolutions for the New Year?

Happy 2011, folks! It's a new dawn, a new day, a new life for us (if we want it to be). Are you feelin' good?

For me, it's been a year of some nice highs — and some serious lows.

A few of the good things:

  • I moved to a new apartment that's a vast improvement over my last one.
  • I've been sleeping better than I have in years.
  • I got a book deal over the summer. (My writing partner and I have finally come up with a title we like: Jane, Don't Err: What Great Literature Can Teach Us About Moby Dickheads, Brief Wondrous Relationships, and Love in the Time of Internet Dating. We'll see what our editor thinks!)
  • I met Sweet Pants, with whom I've had a very healthy, calm romantic relationship — something I'd become pretty convinced I'd never have.

Among the not-so-fun things was dating a certain someone who inspired me to write this rant:

Things Men Should Never Do Unless You Want Us to Think You Love Us.

And … there are a bunch of other things, too, but I won't dwell on the negative today.

Now that a new 365-day cycle is upon us, I've been thinking about my resolutions for the New Year, and there are a number of changes I want to make in my life.

And looking back at my resolutions for 2010, I realize I really came through on one ... But that means there were five others that I failed to do sufficiently. (And at least one that I never really even attempted to do.) Hmm.

What are your resolutions for the new year? Do you think you'll stick to them?
