#BigLipstickEnergy: The Best Lip Balms for Working From Home

Because your WFH starter pack should include a very good balm.

I'm a serial lipstick dater. So many lip products slide onto my desk. Some I double-tap and have all the heart eyes for. Others I ghost and leave on seen. This is #BigLipstickEnergy, an honest breakdown of how I feel about the latest lip launches. Read on for the three lipstick flings I'm keeping in rotation for now. Next week, I'll have a new roster.

Lip Repair + Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 30

Aquaphor
$3.99

THE DETAILS:

When your lips need a lil' more than the run-of-the-mill balm, employ this supremely healing ointment. It's a fragrance-free, no-fluff formula full of vitamins, shea butter and castor seed oil to relieve you from chapped, cracky, not-cute lips. The SPF 30 is an added bonus to shield the sensitive skin on your lips from harmful UV rays. (Yes, your lips are susceptible to liner, spots and collagen loss too!)

WHY I'M OBSESSED:

In case you're unfamiliar, this is the MVP of drugstore lip salves. It's $3 of pure greatness, IMO, and here's why: Growing up, I suffered from severe eczema. Along with my prescribed cream, a tube of Aquaphor held a permanent spot on my shelf to soothe my inflamed skin and lips from painful rough patches. I've been a believer in its healing powers ever since. During WFH days, this version with SPF has remained right next to my coffee. It keeps my lips supple despite the moisture-void air in my apartment.

La Mer
$70.00

THE DETAILS:

The first thing you'll notice about this emollient balm is its subtle minty scent—and its lovely slip which becomes ever more apparent once slathered on your lips. The brand actually suggests warming up the formula between your fingertips before patting it on. Loaded with botanical oils, it softens and conditions lips with moisture that lingers for hours on end.

WHY I'M OBSESSED:

There's something so satisfying about applying La Mer on my lips. I mean, it's La Mer. I've sang the praises of the brand's Lip Volumizer on #BLE before and I'm just as obsessed with this product. It's a splurge, but it sure is worth it. And if it makes you feel any better, I've had the same pan for months—a little goes a long way with this concentrated formula. I only ever need one layer to fully revive my perpetually dry lips. Life hack: Whenever lotion isn't cutting it for my dry hands, a spot of this does the trick.

Sugar Hydrating Lip Balm

Fresh
$18.00

THE DETAILS:

The trio of apricot kernel, black currant seed and grapeseed oils work together with vitamin E and sugar to deliver all-day moisture. This balm doesn't skimp on shine, either. In fact, the hydrating texture will leave you with super supple lips that gives lip gloss a run for its money. Although coconut is my favorite scent (more on that below), it's available in an array of flavors and tints for you to choose from.

WHY I'M OBSESSED:

Are you crazy for coconuts? (Sorry, had to.) But in all seriousness, this coconut balm is addicting. The comforting scent transports me to the tropics, even though I've been on my couch for the past nine weeks. Besides that, the velvety balm leaves my lips feeling silky smooth—I'm talking silk with the highest possible thread count. And its results last so I don't find myself reapplying every hour.
