A rare update on Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's resurgent friendship was published today, courtesy of Entertainment Tonight. The outlet was told by a source that Aniston and Pitt, who were married for almost seven years before announcing their separation in 2007, are doing well.
"She continues to stay in touch with Brad, and they occasionally talk," the source said of where the two stand. "They both have come so far."
Pitt and Aniston are both currently single. But that could change for Aniston, Entertainment Tonight's source suggests. She's out there, dating!
"The support she has had from women in her life has truly helped her move on and upward and, with lots of encouragement from friends, she finally has started dating," the source said. "Lisa [Kudrow] and Courteney [Cox] and Jen are really close and have encouraged her to date and get out there."
Aniston spoke to InStyle for its September issue about the impact Friends—the show that brought her, Kudrow, and Cox together—has had on her life.
"I started to find my confidence when I was on Friends, for sure," she said in the profile released today. "In a way, being on that show was the ultimate trust exercise. There was comfort in numbers there, so we all held each other up. I miss a lot about that time. Having a job that was absolute, pure joy. I miss getting to be with people I love massively and respect beyond words. So, yes, these days I’m super nostalgic. Anything can make me go, 'Aww.'"
The last tabloid update on Aniston and Pitt's relationship came in the spring. A source told Entertainment Tonight then that"Jen and Brad have remained friends and have spoken with each other quite a few times since they both became single. They are friends and have supported each other through some tough times. They've come so far since their marriage and plan to stay friends for life. There are truly no hard feelings between them."
