Try not to panic, but "Emma Stone" is not, in fact, Emma Stone's real name. The La La Land actress' birth certificate actually reads Emily Stone, which isn't a huge departure—but guys: her name change comes with a highly amusing story.

Turns out Emily Stone was "taken" when Emma started acting, and she was faced with the task of having to switch up her moniker.

"For a 16-year-old, picking a new name is an interesting prospect," the actress told W Magazine (opens in new tab). "So, for about six months I was called Riley. I landed a guest spot on Malcolm in the Middle, and one day they were calling, 'Riley! Riley! Riley! We need you on set, Riley!' and I had no idea who they were talking to. At that moment, I realized that I just couldn't be Riley. So I became Emma. But I miss Emily. I would love to get her back."

Speaking of Riley, here she is in Malcolm in the Middle.

Someone please make a petition for Emma Stone to release an album titled "I am...Riley Stone" ASAP, thanks.
