America is known for the star-spangled banner, and Emily Blunt's red carpet look at the Met Gala 2021 is known for its star-spangled...headpiece! The Brit brought the all-American energy to the Gala this year not with red, white, or blue, but with tons (and tons) of silver sparkles.

Blunt returned to the Met Gala red carpet this year wearing a custom Miu Miu frock that was adorned in more than a few sparkles. In fact, they practically covered the entire sheer skirt and bodice. A white cape added extra drama to the look—as if her outfit wasn't extravagant enough! A wrapped diamond bracelet, diamond-shaped dangly earrings, and a boxy silver clutch bag completed the look.

While other stars on the red carpet looked to the future of American fashion for the gala this year, Blunt's look was decidedly retro—but with a few updated touches. The entire look took inspiration from Hedy Lamarr, the iconic actress and the star of the classic fashion film, Ziegfeld Girl, which came out in 1941. Both looks feature star-adorned headpieces, although Blunt's was far more subdued. Rather than going full-on tiara, Blunt's take featured strands of silver that wrapped around a sleek updo. Blunt's headpiece also featured a few oversized pearls for a sweet, modern touch.
