While studying the Fall 2026 runways, I noticed a handful of familiar jacket trends. Many designers adhered to the age-old “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy, embracing enduring outerwear styles that have been successfully dominating the catwalks for the past few seasons.

At Chanel, Matthieu Blazy co-signed the collarless jacket craze, showcasing frayed tweed versions decorated with shimmering gold buttons. Meanwhile, Ralph Lauren presented fur trimming, a classic style that is undoubtedly synonymous with cold-weather dressing. Altuzarra, on the other hand, favored cropped jackets crafted with textured fabric. Other reliable autumn essentials, like sumptuous leather layers and cozy sweater jackets, also took center stage.

To be honest, I was relieved to see these perennial staples reemerge on the runways. As a practical shopper who gravitates toward timeless pieces, it’s comforting to know that fashion’s most coveted fall jacket trends are poised to stick around for the long haul. With that in mind, I plan to invest in them ASAP, and I’d suggest you follow my lead.

    Collarless Jackets

I remember spotting collarless outerwear during the Fall 2025 season, when several luxury brands championed coats and jackets made with crew necklines and cocoon silhouettes. Nearly a year later, designers have continued to favor the trend while offering fresh interpretations. Balmain made its version with loud tiger prints, Chanel opted for classy tweed, and Kallmeyer chose shimmering gold fabric.

This fall, consider pairing a collarless jacket with a turtleneck for an intriguing layered look. Then, slip into your favorite tailored trousers and add a pair of ankle boots into the mix. It’s an easygoing outfit formula that’s worthy of repeating.

If you want to make your autumn outfits feel undeniably rich, add a fur-trimmed jacket to your rotation. Given that this style is such a statement-making look, it’ll pair best with laid-back bottoms like denim pants and streamlined maxi skirts.

As for the color palette, take inspiration from Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, and Ulla Johnson—all of which showcased neutral shades of black and brown. You’ll find that these hues are easy to mix and match.

While oversized silhouettes are still very much in style, it’s clear that cropped constructions are also having a moment. Altuzarra, Dior, and Proenza Schouler proved just that, enhancing their runways with high-hemline jackets made from suede, textured fabric, and soft wool, respectively. Provided that you want to give your baggy coats a break, try one of the options below.

Every fashion connoisseur knows that there’s no such thing as an autumn wardrobe without a black leather jacket. So, it should come as no surprise that the style made its way onto the Fall 2026 runways.

However, this time around, brands ditched conventional designs for alternatives that felt a bit more unique. Valentino displayed a plunging V-shaped neckline, Isabel Marant created a quilted exterior, and Khaite presented a military-inspired twist with hand-embroidered cording.

Scroll on for other black leather jackets that are just as extraordinary.

With temperatures dropping into the 60-degree territory, it’s officially time to bundle up. Stay cozy in a snug sweater jacket stitched with soft blends of cotton, wool, and cashmere. It’s the perfect outerwear choice for those moments when you want to prioritize comfort.

While this trend definitely has a relaxed appeal, it can easily be dressed up. Chanel, Prada, and Miu Miu gave the laid-back look an elevated treatment with knee-length skirts and polished shoes.
