3 Fresh Ways to Wear Jeans and a White T-Shirt This Winter

Here’s how I’m styling the classic combo.

As much as I love an occasion to dress up, I often find myself relying on jeans and a white T-shirt. The foolproof combination is like an eggs-and-toast breakfast meal—it’s simple, easy to put together, and somehow, I never get tired of it.

Despite its basic appeal, there are ways to make this formula feel more fresh. Especially during the colder months, it can serve as the foundation to a perfectly layered look. Whether I decide to shake things up with a vibrant V-neck sweater or embrace Wild West fashion with a suede jacket, the options are endless.

As my style has become more intentional with age, I’m inclined to cherry-pick my new pieces in a very purposeful way. Ahead you'll find that I’ve carefully curated three streamlined outfits that you can incorporate into your own winter wardrobe. On days when you’re rushing out the door, or even just feeling creatively stumped, feel free to reference this edit.

Sweater Weather

I find V-neck sweaters to be a generally underrated part of the styling puzzle for everyday dress. Unlike a turtleneck or crewneck sweater, there’s something saucy about the way V-necks reveal just a touch of your tee.

Here, I half-tucked my sweater into a pair of classic blue jeans and anchored the look with my favorite comfy heels: Reformation’s Inez pumps. (These shoes channel the vibe of Phoebe Philo’s Club Slipper at a fraction of the price.) I finished things off with a simple pair of Dorsey earrings and a Parker Thatch tote that looks luxe, but also happens to fit anything I might need for the day at hand.

This is the sort of lightly-elevated errand outfit I reach for when I’m spending a Saturday grabbing coffee and doing some IRL shopping.

Winter Whites

White jeans may have a reputation as a summer essential, but I’ve found this pair from Still Here to be a remarkably easy addition to my winter wardrobe. In part because it breaks up all the blacks, grays, and browns hanging in my coat closet, but mostly because I find white on white to be an underrated winter combination that’s getting its due on the runways of Max Mara and Celine. Styled with brown accessories (in this case a Tory Burch bag and a pair of old Prada loafers), the look feels sophisticated, despite being super casual.

A Western Touch

Western fashion has been all over the runways these past few seasons. However, as a New Yorker, embracing horse girl vibes can skew a little performative. To make things less costumey, I balanced out the look with my favorite pair of vintage jeans and Lacausa’s barely-sheer tee.
