Maison Martin Margiela Is the Next H&M Designer Collaboration

Maison Martin Margiela will collaborate on a collection for H&M for the 2012 holiday season.

If you're not too familiar with Parisian fashion house Maison Martin Margiela — aside from a well-placed shout out in some Kanye West lyrics — you're about to learn what the forward-thinking brand is all about. Like Versace, Lanvin, and Karl Lagerfeld before it, the Maison will release a limited-edition collection for H&M this holiday season.

Until now, the brand has remained relatively mysterious outside of the fashion circles. Even though its name is not as recognizable as most of the brands H&M has joined forces with in the past, we're sure that the collection will be as cool as they come — and will fly out of stores. "The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further," the Maison said in a press release. "We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all."

The Belgian designer who the house is named for is notorious for his elusiveness (seriously, there is only one photo of him on the Internet), and although he left the company in 2009, the brand has maintained a cult-like following for its avant-garde collections. Maison Martin Margiela's line for H&M will include pieces for both men and women, and will launch in 230 stores worldwide, as well as online, on November 15.
