Here in New York City, heat waves are on the horizon. For the next several months, I’ll be enduring stuffy subway rides and non-air-conditioned rooftop happy hours. As such, the last thing on my mind is wearing a pair of heavy jeans that’ll stick to my thighs. Instead, I’m searching for lightweight alternatives that won’t cause me to break a sweat. Fortunately, summer 2026’s hottest denim trends offer exactly that.

The latest warm-weather designer collections reveal denim styles that deserve a prime spot in every capsule wardrobe, right alongside linen pants and floaty maxis. On the runways, Bottega Veneta and Stella McCartney showcased baggy Bermuda shorts for a breathable appeal. Ganni and Ermanno Scervino made a case for denim dresses, decorating their versions with charming floral embroidery. Meanwhile, Dior and Aknvas co-signed the classic micro mini skirt, demonstrating that you can never go wrong with a thigh-skimming hemline for summer.

Lengthy jeans weren’t completely abandoned, though. Ulla Johnson and Zimmermann proved that you can still wear floor-sweeping denim bottoms amid balmy temperatures—just opt for trouser-like silhouettes that’ll allow ample airflow.
