This Artist Perfectly Reimagines Disney Characters in 2017 and—Spoiler Alert—Things Look Bleak

Except for LeFou! He's doing great!

We've seen Disney favorites reimagined all the ways we thought imaginable: with body hairas teenagersas hot dogs, etc. U.K.-based artist Tom Ward took his now-viral illustrations (a series he calls "Alt Disney") to the next level though and threw said characters right into the middle of this historic year.

That means we find Ariel dealing with pollution, Cinderella dealing with a less-than charming prince, and more unsettlingly real situations. It's not all bleak though: Gaston and LeFou are seemingly out and proud now and they look super thrilled about it.
