Whether you're a lover of all things neutral, or like to experiment with your makeup each morning, a smokey eye is a must-have option for every girl. This look can be applied quickly before work, or can be vamped up for evening. So, just as you treasure your LBD, add the smokey eye to your list of staples.

Before applying shadow, use your ring finger to smooth on MAC's Bare Study Paint Pot ($17.50), spreading it over the lid and up to the brow bone. This will act as a primer, and will help the shadow last all day without creasing or fading.

Next, grab a flat brush and apply Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Foxy ($18) all over your lid. This neutral shadow will tame any redness and open up eyes.

With a pencil brush like Sigma's E30 ($9), scoop up NARS Galapagos Shimmer Eyeshadow ($24). Concentrate this in the crease of your eye and then blend the color outwards with a fluffy brush for instant smokiness

To take this look from day to night, use Illamasqua's Precision Ink in Abyss ($27.50) to create a dramatic cat-eye.
