Deck the halls with...meat dresses and wigs and lord knows what else?
Well, it probably won't be meat dresses, but the Barneys flagship on Madison Avenue is about to get Gaga-ed. The department store announced today that it will be partnering with Lady Gaga for the holiday season, dedicating a floor to what will become "Gaga's Workshop" starting in mid-November. And we can't wait to see what they dream up!
Under the direction of Barneys' creative director Dennis Freedman, Lady Gaga and her fashion director Nicola Formichetti along with Assume Vivid Astro Focus (AVAF), a range of limited edition gift items has been created. There will also be installations and artwork in the workshop though specific details aren't known yet.
Barneys New York CEO Mark Lee said in a release, "Lady Gaga is a rare cultural phenomenon, not only because of her exceptional talents as a singer, songwriter and performer, but also with regard to her support of equality and individuality and status as a fashion icon. Partnering with her in this unprecedented collaborative way to create the largest and most all-encompassing theme that Barneys has ever mounted is a thrill. As a New York City landmark, we wanted to celebrate Lady Gaga as a fellow New Yorker with amazing talent." Oh, and 25% of sales from all items in Gaga's Workshop will go to a charity of Lady Gaga's choice!
Considering how obsessed we already are with the shopping bag artwork (pictured above), we don't think we'll be disappointed in the sure-to-be awesome offerings. And we bet there will be more than a few shocked tourists throughout the month too!
What would you love to see in Gaga's Workshop?
